Key events
The records of these NFC East rivals proving that draws are stupid in the NFL. A defeat for both teams realistically after both had chances to win in overtime.
TIE GAME!!!!
Final score: Giants 27-27 Commanders
What on Earth just happened. Washington run the ball with no timeouts and the recievers don’t realise they need to get back for Daniels to spike the ball to stop the clock. Time runs out for Washington with the ball deep in field goal range. They had the W on a plate and throw it away. Ridiculously poor game management.
TOUCHDOWN! 49ers 7-7 Seahawks 9:34, 1st quarter
Seattle finish off their own short drive after recovering a muffed punt recovery by the 49ers.
Giants 27-27 Commanders 0:55, overtime
Cracking start to the drive for the Commanders as Terry McLaurin shoots up the sideline for 16 yards. Antonio Williams adds another six.
Here we go then! Jayden Daniels scrambles out to the right and evades the linebacker for a 16-yard gain. The QB follows it up with a 13-yard throw to Treylon Burks. Washington sit at New York’s 26-yard line.
FUMBLE! Giants 27-27 Commanders 2:00, overtime
Is this going to end in a tie? Cam Skattebo fumbles!!! And Washington recover. Unbelievable. The mega rookie Sonny Styles attacks the ball and knocks it loose!
Giants 27-27 Commanders 2:00, overtime
Cam Skattebo dives for a 1st down leaving around 25 yards for a game-winning touchdown. They would be wise to go for the score with their kicker only making two boots from five attempts today.
Giants 27-27 Commanders 2:51, overtime
Huge play for the Giants as Winston finds Nabers for a 28-yard gain. Well into field goal range. The veteran QB has been handy today: 33/54 for 326 yards and three touchdowns. Fairly miserable six yards per attempt but he is doing enough.
TOUCHDOWN! 49ers 7-0 Seahawks 11:12, 1st quarter
First blood to San Francisco! The 49ers picked Sam Darnold off and only needed 18 yards on the drive to take the early lead.
Giants 27-27 Commanders 5:43, overtime
Washington only need a field goal and are knocking on the door at midfield. Seriously big win for the Commanders if they can pull it off. They would tie Dallas and Philly at 2-3 while New York stay top at 3-2 in the NFC East.
Meanwhile Washington fumble but recover it. Very close call. They are going for it on 4th and 5. Or are they? No just a vain attempt to draw the Giants offside. Punt.
It’s NO GOOD! Giants 27-27 Commanders 7:57, overtime
Dominic Zvada misses hooks it wide from 46 yards. The rookie is 2/5 on the day. Ouch.
A quick look at the records of the late matches:
-
(2-2) Denver Broncos v Los Angeles Chargers (0-4)
-
(2-2) Detroit Lions v Arizona Cardinals (1-3)
-
(4-0) San Francisco 49ers v Seattle Seahawks (3-1)
What a treat to get such a big game early in the season from the NFC West. Who is your money on? I am thinking the 49ers roll on and stay unbeaten.
Giants 27-27 Commanders 8:30, overtime
The G-Men are on the ball just over midfield. Close to field goal range. Two incomplete passes brings up a critical 3rd down. Winston keeps it and runs for the 1st down and deep into field goal territory. Quality from the veteran backup to see the open field and go straight for it.
TOUCHDOWN! Broncos 7-0 Chargers 6:53, 1st quarter

Giants 27-27 Commanders, overtime
Washington punt and get a beautiful stop at the five-yard line as this heads to overtime. Vintage NFC East action in the driving rain.
Final scores: Bears 7-31 Packers, Raiders 16-45 Patriots, Colts 22-34 Steelers, Browns 12-17 Jets
Packers rumble the Bears who sorely missed Caleb Williams while the Patriots deliver an unbelievable beat down of the Raiders.
Meanwhile Washington are at midfield but are on 3rd down with 18 seconds remaining.
TOUCHDOWN! Giants 27-27 Commanders 1:43, 4th quarter
What?! The Giants are level after trailing by 14 points in the fourth quarter and trailing for the whole game. Shocker from the Commanders defense. Can Jayden Daniels dig out the win from here?
Browns 12-17 Jets 1:41, 4th quarter
Cleveland force a 3rd down and the Jets take a timeout to mull their options. A first down ends the game here. No bueno as Braelon Allen is stopped well short. Strange call after sending their leading receiver off the field. The Browns knew the run was coming. Punt on the way and Cleveland take over at their 20-yard line.
It’s GOOD! Colts 22-34 Steelers 2:00, 4th quarter
Pittsburgh back on the ball after forcing a turnover on downs after the field goal.
Browns 12-17 Jets 2:13, 4th quarter
Ooooh. Isaiah Bond drops an easy ball on 2nd and 19 that would have moved the chains and then some. Cleveland punt but its short to the 25-yard line. The Browns need a big stop.
Final scores: Vikings 23-13 Saints, Texans 26-3 Titans
Minnesota stay unbeaten at 5-0 while Houston pick up their first win of the season in the 0-4 bowl.
TOUCHDOWN! Browns 12-17 Jets 3:01, 4th quarter
The Jets retake the lead as the running back jogs it in after a bad defensive play call. Braelon Allen has 110 yards on 21 carries. Screw it we’re watching Browns v Jets.
TOUCHDOWN! Giants 20-27 Commanders 7:20, 4th quarter
Hold the phone. The G-Men are just one score back with lots of time left to get back into this NFC East showdown. A win for either is huge considering both Dallas and Philadelphia (both 2-3) have already lost this week.
In two of the only close games Pittsburgh have just forced a turnover on downs with four minutes remaining and a nine-point lead over Indy while Cleveland get a sack then recover a fumble, also with four minutes remaining and a two-point lead over the Jets.
TOUCHDOWN! Browns 12-10 Jets 6:15, 4th quarter
After trailing for the entire game Cleveland take the lead with just over six minutes to play. Extra point hits the upright. D’oh!
TOUCHDOWN! Giants 13-27 Commanders 11:05, 4th quarter
Welcome back, Jayden. The returning QB has two scores on the ground and 87 yards on eight carries. Glad to have you back.
TOUCHDOWN! Colts 22-31 Steelers 6:35, 4th quarter
The tight end grabs his second score of the game while the veteran QB has a hat-trick of touchdowns. Rodgers quietly playing very well Pittsburgh.

Bears 7-31 Packers 11:49, 4th quarter
Jordan Love. The fireworks are not done yet. The QB uncorks a 50-yard bomb to Matthew Golden. Too easy.
PICK! Bears 7-31 Packers 12:49, 4th quarter
Green Bay have been impressive today on defense. They read the running play from Luther Burden and send him packing for a seven yard loss. Bears going for the TD on 4th down. Keenum keeps Green Bay looking pretty with an interception to Ty’Ron Hopper. That looked promising for the Bears for a moment. Caleb Williams look like he will be back next week though. Emerging 3-2 after missing their starter for three games is not half bad.
Bears 7-31 Packers 13:40, 4th quarter
Case Keenum is IN! A big kick-off return gives the veteran the controls and he begins with a nice gain of 23 yards then five. The Bears are 1st and Goal just like that. Easy to say with 20/20 hindsight but Keenum should have been in much earlier.
TOUCHDOWN! Bears 7-31 Packers 14:55, 4th quarter
Goodnight, Chicago. The running back gets the score but this thrashing has been all about the quarterback Jordan Love. He is 21/27 for 300 yards and two touchdowns. Christian Watson with both of those grabs and 141 yards to boot.
PICK! Bears 7-23 Packers 15:00, 4th quarter
Tyson Bagent throws his second pick of the game to Xavier McKinney. That has to be curtains for the backup in this one. He has struggled throughout and Case Keenum has been warming up throughout the second half.
Meanwhile Jordan Love unleashes another monster throw. This time it is Matthew Golden taking down a 36-yard grab. 19 yards to go for a touchdown. A field goal makes it a three-score lead.

TOUCHDOWN! Vikings 20-13 Saints 14:06, 4th quarter
Minnesota take the lead as they eye a 5-0 start with the fourth quarter underway.
It’s GOOD! Bears 7-23 Packers 1:58, 3rd quarter
The Packers have to settle for three points. Chicago get a crucial stop to stay within 16 points of Green Bay.
Bears 7-20 Packers 2:44, 3rd quarter
Green Bay are close to home and hosed after Jordan Love fakes the boot out to the left while Tucker Kraft heads deep right. Love’s cannon for an arm easily finds his tight end who is wide open for the 46-yard gain. The Packers are in the red zone.
Bears 7-20 Packers 4:08, 3rd quarter
Three and out for Chicago who switch it up by rushing with Roshawn Johnson. Two attempts for one yard are not what the doctor ordered. Green Bay back on the ball at their 38-yard line.
TOUCHDOWN! Colts 16-24 Steelers 5:37, 3rd quarter
Pittsburgh’s running back has just shredded Indy out of nowhere. After only five carries in the first half for 18 yards, he breaks off a 50-yard home run. See ya!
Bears 7-20 Packers 6:14, 3rd quarter
The Bears get a stop and the Packers are punting. Fair catch is called at the 12-yard line. Long way to go for an offense that has been struggling without Caleb Williams today. Quarterback Tyson Bagent is 9 for 15 for 68 yards and an interception. They do have 82 yards on the ground though. D’Andre Swift incoming.
Justin Jefferson doing Justin Jefferson things in New Orleans. Touchdown catch in triple coverage. Lol.
TOUCHDOWN! Raiders 7-28 Patriots 12:58, 3rd quarter
Is the bloom off the rose for the Raiders? Too soon to say but their hot start is on ice now with this thrashing underway in New England.
TOUCHDOWN! Bears 7-20 Packers 13:10, 3rd quarter
OK what a three-play sequence from Green Bay.
First, Love tries to go long to Watson again up the left sideline but it is just out of reach. Watson is sure the Bears commit PI but the refs don’t give it.
Second, J.Michael Sturdivant scores a 43-yard touchdown on a deep throw from Love but he is dinged for a pass interference call after mashing his hand into the defender’s face just before the pass came.
And finally, Christian Watson grabs a 53-yard bomb right in the centre of the end zone near to going out of bounds. He goes up with a defender and grabs it off the Bear’s helmet and just plops down with the ball in his lap. Unbelievable.
Bears 7-14 Packers 13:33, 3rd quarter
Bizarre stop to the game as the officials don’t have any balls. Fairly crucial. When Jordan Love finally gets one in his hand he chucks it long for a 31-yard gain to Christian Watson. Green Bay are over midfield and then some.
Bears 7-14 Packers 14:55, 3rd quarter
Back in action at Lambeau with the Bears booting off to Green Bay. The Packers take over from close to their 30-yard line.

Some cream rising to the top in Cincinnati and New England taking out two-touchdown leads.
Bears 7-14 Packers, half-time
Naughty Green Bay get pulled up on an illegal substitution. Love is sacked for the second time on this set of downs. Strange but Packers fans are booing despite their team winning and doing so fairly comfortably.
